Bread price up by Rs .2 from Monday

The price of bread will increase as from Monday. The traditional “pain maison”, “pain rond” and “pain moule” will cost Rs 0.20 more next week. This decision was taken yesterday by the Ministry of Commerce.

Nazir, Hossonay, the president of Bakery Association said that this increase was needed. “The last increase dates back to 2008. The price of electricity, diesel and water have increased” he explained.

However he said that bakers are not 100% satisfied with this increase although it will allow them to continue to serve the population.

New Prices of Bread

Maison (100g) – Rs 2.70

Rond (100g) – Rs 2.70

Baguette (100g) Rs 2.80

Baguette (200g) Rs 5.60

Baguette (400g) Rs 11.20

Moule (200g) Rs 5.40
