Doctor stabbed by patient he was attending at 2 am

A 60-year-old doctor residing at Riambel was stabbed by his neighbour while he was attending to him in the early hours of Wednesday.

The doctor was taken to Jawaharlal Nehru Hospital by his relatives who found him in a wounded state. He is admitted at the intensive care unit where hospital authorities stated that his health is quite serious.

According to information received, the neighbour had come to the doctor’s place complaining of stomach pains.

An argument erupted between the two while consultations were going on after which the neighbour got upset. The latter took out a knife, stabbed the doctor, concealed the weapon in his trousers and ran away.

A police investigation is underway.
