Heavy Rain Predicted For Summer 2011-2012

The Summer season has officially began in Mauritius on November 1 and will last until May 15,2012. The Mauritius Meteorological Station has forecast that the summer of 2011-2012 will be hotter and many regions of the island will experience an increase of several degrees in temperature.

However the cumulative rainfall during the summer season is expected to be near normal with an average of 1,350 mm in Mauritius and 650 mm in Rodrigues.

The Mauritius Meteorological Station has also predicted heavy rainfall starting from the second half of the island and heavier rainfall is expected in the seccond fortnight of December.

Seven to nine storms are expected during the 2011-2012 summer and this results of the probability of having a storm in the first fortnight of December. The pressure will also be very high for this Summer.
