A thunderstorm that hit Chagankule Village in Xinjiang at 1:00 p.m. on July 10 brought extreme disaster to everyone, human and animal alike.
Lightning claimed the lives of 143 goats. Thirty more were washed away by flood waters.
The damage caused to the livestock alone is estimated to have reached 200,000 RMB (US$32,000).
Apart from the unfortunate toll on the livestock, people were also greatly affected by massive floods, but there haven’t been any reports of any human casualties or structural collapses.
