mauritius on m6 tonight 300x231 Magazine about the negative aspects of Mauritius on M6 ( CanalSat ) tonight at 22:10

Very often, there are documentaries about the blue lagoons, fabulous hotels and nice hospitality in Mauritius in International TV programs, unfortunately this will not be the case today. There will be a programme highlighting the negative aspects of Mauritius such as drugs, unemployment, theft on M6 ( channel number 185 on Canal Satellite) at 22:10 tonight.

Title: “Rêves, fortunes et trafics au soleil :les secrets de l’Île Maurice”

Duration: 90 min

Magazine presented by Bernard de La Villardière

Synopsis :

Mauritius is a paradise for tourists. Every year there are many people who travel to the island and among them, there is an increasing number of French tourists.. There are about 1 Million tourists each year. There are even a few like Béatrice et Joachim, who decided to set up there. But the tourists do not see the hidden face of the island: slums, unemployment, drugs. The majority of the population who are of Indian origin are profiting from the tourism Industry.

Unemployment, slums and drugs problems are found in almost every country. It is very rare to find a country without these problems, take Paris for example, these problems are very common there. Therefore M6 should have done a program about drugs and unemployment in Paris or Reunion Island instead of doing some bad publicity for the island. Mauritius has recently grabbed a few awards at the World Travel Awards 2012, maybe it is some form of destroying the image of the island.

Drug dealing/ thefts/ violence is everywhere is the world, dont u think so? Whether u go to australia, the beautiful islands of seychelles, jamaica, uk or france… its omipresent… Now when we mauritians advertise for our country, its obvious that we wont talk about all this, simply because thats not what we are offering to tourists, its irrelevant to tell tourists about unemployment and drugs! From all the tourists who visits mauritius every year how many have seen these aspects of mauritius??? Very few, if none!!! They simply come to mauritius, enjoy the lovely beaches, the nice food, the culture and go back to their country… as simple as that! There are people who work hard in mauritius to feed their families, build their houses and achieve something in life! At least those people in mauritius who are buying drugs are not buying them from government benefits (compared to france/uk where youngers get paid to sit on their bump at home and buy their alcohol and drugs).Mauritius is far from being perfect i must admit but it definitely is and will remain one of the most beautiful place in the world, what will a documentary change to that gerard?
