Mauritian Shakti Ramsurrun charged with triple murder in Canada – Wife had left him because of alleged affair with a Mauritian Girl

A 28-year-old Mauritian is accused of a triple murder in Canada . Shakti Ramsurrun, a Belle Marre native has been arrested on Thursday, 23 May, 2012 in the town of Gatineau at Ottawa. He is accused of killing his wife, Anne-Katherine Powers, 21, the mother of the latter, Louise Leboeuf,62, and stepfather Louise Leboeuf, 58.
According to a Canadian newspaper, the tragedy took place because of the couple’s breakup. Shakti Ramsurrun could not accept that his wife had left him. The couple was separated since several weeks and have a 15-months-old son. Despite of the break up, the Mauritian continued to live in the house of his wife and in laws. It is in this house that the tragedy took place.
Shakti Ramsurrun was arrested near the red mini-van of his in laws which was near the golf club 15 minutes after the murder.
The young Mauritian was employed at the golf club of Rivermead. He got permanent resident in December 2011. The murderer remains in detention.
Shakti Ramssurun met Anne-Katherine Powers during a cruise in the Caribbean in December 2009. At that time the Mauritian worked as a server on board the the ship while the Canadian girl was with his parents for a family holiday. “It was love at first sight” Virgnia Lamaute, a friend of Anne-Katherine Powers says.
After the cruise, the lovers continued their long distance love relationship. They were regularly exchanging emails. Anne-Katherine Powers was impatient to meet her love. Her dream was fulfilled after some months.
Everything was fine when the young man settled with the Powers family. He was comfortable. Life was beautiful, the friend of the victim, Virgina Lamaute said.
Virgina Lamaute also said that the Mauritian became aggressive after drinking. “He could be dangerous when he was drunk, but when he was sober he was pretty cool, It’s hard to change a person. I guess maybe he was just used to his old habits, Virgina Lamaute said.
On the 3rd May, during a Facebook chat, Anne-Katherine Powers confided to her friend that he broke up with Shakti Ramsurrun because they were totally different. “I have ended this relationship. It’s better like this”
According to the murdered young girl, Shakti Ramsurrun had planned to stay in Canada after their divorce. “I hope that he returns to his native island. His family and friends are there” Anne-Katherine Powers had confided to his friend.
Virgina Lamaute was shocked when she learned about the triple murder. “I had never imagined that this story would end up like this” Anne-Katherine Powers was too young. She was too young to die, she said.
