Despite all the critics, in the political scene and in the Marathi community, Balraj Narroo was re-elected as president of Mauritius Marathi Mandali Federation (MMMF), on Sunday. Six in a row for the president of Central Electricity Board (CEB).
Balraj Narroo was extremely happy to be re-elected, especially after the “campaign against (him)” during recent months: “The lack of direct opponents is a positive sign demonstrating that the Marathi community considers me capable and wants me as the MMMF president. That’s why they chose me for this post of utmost prestige.” Without wishing to mix social affairs, the MMMF and politics, Balraj Narroo notes that in recent weeks, he has been in the limelight as his skills and nomination as CEB head have been the subject of parliamentary questions and various attacks of the Opposition.
Balraj Narroo was not only targeted by politicians. Criticisms and grievances were also expressed by and religious and sociocultural organizations, who had recently demanded his resignation from the presidency of MMMF. They believed that Balraj Narroo had acted badly by issuing certain criticisms, on March 23, against former President Sir Anerood Jugnauth.
Balraj Narroo responded to these criticisms: “Since my designation at CEB, some politicians said the sooner I leave MMMF the better it would be for the community. But, today i have been elected again…”
