1. Gastroenteritis: 5291 Cases in our hospital in two weeks

5291 cases of gastroenteritis have been reported in our hospitals from 9th to 22nd January 2012. Dr Devanand Rajcoomar from the Ministry of Health has said that the increase cases of gastroenteritis are because of the high temperature and increase rainfall in the last weeks.

2. Plaine des Roches: 11-year-old boy commits suicide

Bhushan Jugoobarah, 11, committed suicide near his house on Tuesday morning. The CPE pupil was living with his mother and four siblings in the village of Plaine des Roches . According to sources the teenager refused to attend school and wanted to look for a job. The discovery was made by a neighbour who informed the mother Bharati Jugoobarah . The
victim was found hanged to a litchi tree in a wasteland in front of his parent’s house. The autopsy carried by chief police medical officer Sudesh Kumar gungadin attributes death to asphyxia due to hanging.
He was repeating his CPE classes and did not like going to school. The police discard any foul play and suspect the fear of school could have lead to the death.

3. Quatre-Soeurs: Two teenagers beat their mother

Two teenagers aged 16 and 18 have beaten their mother. The later, a 40-year-old divorced and unemployed woman had denounced that her sons have stolen a TNT decoder. Some witnesses have called the Bel-Air-Riviere-Seche police. The woman was admitted to Flacq hospital.

4. Plaine-Verte: Rs 1 Million stolen

The police of Plaine-Verte has started an investigation concerning the theft of Rs 1 Million at a 70-year-old place. She has also said that some of her jeweleries were also stolen. The officers of the Central Investigation Division ( CID ) Port Louis North went to understand the theft. The investigators suspect that members of the family are behind the theft.
