The Director of the Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority (MTPA), Dr. Karl Mootoosamy was in Tana, Madagascar, from Friday, June 15 to June 17, 2012. The aim of this visit was to gather the Malagasy media at Tana and explain the numerous benefits of the first edition of the Mauritius Shopping Fiesta.
The Mauritius shopping fiesta will take place from 29 June to August 5, 2012. The idea is to combine shopping on our paradise island and with the best aerial connection of the region; Mauritius is well positioned to be the shopping center of Indian Ocean.
The Mauritius Shopping Fiesta is an event dedicated for tourist and Mauritians as well, who can enjoy great discounts in several specialized chain stores and a dozen of malls across the island. A lot of products will be on sale during this event: designer garments, beach outfits and accessories, ship models, paintings, jewelry, electronic products, appliances, mobile phones among others.
The Director of the MTPA, also said that there will be a myriad of entertainment during this period, such as the Flic en Flac Carnival on 1 July, with over 600 local and international artists including the Carnival of Brazil and Paris, amongst others. A regatta and beachwear show are also scheduled at Mahebourg and Grand Bay respectively.
Beauty queens of Lebanon, Reunion, Mauritius, Brazil, UK and Great Britain will represent the glamour side. To highlight coastal regions, activities such as a regatta will be organized in Mahebourg and a Beachwear Show at Grand Bay, in the North of Mauritius.
