A Mauritian who was in Rodrigues for her holidays has died when the bus in which she was traveling ended against a wall on the road linking Port-Mathurin to Mont-Lubin. The wounded people were rushed to Crève-Coeur for immediate treatments.

This terrible accident made one dead and two seriously wounded, the tragedy took place before 11:00 on Sunday 12 January 2012 at Contour Oblas on the heights of Port-Mathurin. The driver lost control of the vehicle, there were ten passengers in it which included Mauritians.

The driver of the vehicle who is still is still shock stricken explained that the brakes of his vehicle failed while he was going towards Port-Mathurin and collided with two 4X4. Fortunately, the passengers and drivers of the two 4X4 escaped with minor injuries. One of the wounded people from the bus should have traveled to Mauritius for urgent treatments but unfortunately there are no flights scheduled from Rodrigues Island because of the cyclone.

The President of Mauritius, Sir Anerood Jugnauth who is currently in Rodrigues paid a visit to the wounded people at Crève-Coeur hospital.
