Pratibha Bholah, the MP from (Piton/Rivière-du-Rempart) has finally resigned from the MSM. She now intends to join the Labour Party.

Pratibha Bholah, 53, was nominated Private Secretary (PPS) after the victory of the PTR-MSM during the 2010 election. Although she was hot favourite to join the Labour Party following the break up last year, she remained committed to the MSM.

Mrs Bholah is the third member of the MSM to join the Labour Party following Jim Seetaram and Mireille Martin.

Prime Minister Navin Ramgoolam left no stones unturned to lure the former MSM MP to his Party. He praised Mrs Bholah in all of his official visits where she was present.

«I hope there will be a woman Prime Minister one day in a near future. In front of me I can see Pratibha Bholah. But to get this post, you have to be in the Labour Party, else this is not possible,” the Prime Minister Dr Navin Ramgoolam said speaking at an international conference of Arya Samaj at the Arya Sabha in Port Louis last December.

The president of the Labour Party said that the resignation of Pratibha Bholah was foreseen. “Today, she has once again proved that the Ptr and its leader Dr Navin Ramgoolam are right. We have always said that the MSM is a boat going directly to the ‘caro’. There were some rumours that some members of the PTr will join the MSM but it’s the contrary which happened.
