Prices of Milk, Basmati Rice and Pulses rise by 25%

The prices of milk, Basmati rice and pulses will rise by 25% in a few days. The increase will be from 5% to 25% depending on the product. The rise in the price of a 1 kg milk from Australia and New Zealand will be between 5% and 8%. The price of Basmati rice from India and Pakistan has already increased since some time because of the rise in US Dollar. The price of ‘haricot rouge’, ‘haricot blanc’, ‘dholl petit pois’ and ‘dholl gramme’ will increase by 25%. Dholl petit pois and dholl gramme are used to prepare the famous Mauritian ‘dholl puri’ which will undoubtedly also cost more as a result.
According to the main importers of pulses and Riz Basmati, we will have to wait until the start of 2013 to find out whether the prices will decrease.
