Promotion Of Mauritius Through Facebook, Twitter And Youtube , What Must Be Done?
The Minister Of Tourism, Michaël Sik Yuen had his first press conference on Monday at the Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority (MTPA). He mentioned that due to the changing lifestyle of people in the world and as more and more people are using social media worldwide, Mauritius need to consolidate its E-marketing team in order to promote Mauritius Island more in social medias such as Twitter and Facebook.
Unfortunately the target of one million tourist will not be realized this year. The Minister of Tourism mentioned that 464,604 tourists have visited Mauritius during the last six month, 92 % for holidays, 3.9 % for business purposes, 0.5 % for various conferences and 0.2 % for sports.
What should be done to promote Mauritius more through popular social Media such as Facebook, Twitter and Youtube?
1. The MTPA must hire a “blackhat SEO”, a “blackhat” internet marketer is very good in the social Media field, he knows how to make a popular Fan page and populate it to thousands of fans. There are numerous ways to populate a fan page quickly. The MTPA must also splash the cash and do Facebook ads campaign in order to target people worldwide on its “Fan Page” ( which does not exist yet )
2. The MTPA does not have a fan page but a profile on Facebook, Facebook has recently said that all profiles acting like a business will be disactivated, the Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority does not know this i guess or is ignorant and waiting for the profile to be disactivated.
3. The MTPA IT Department must upload more videos on Youtube to reach the million of youtube users, they should also upload more photos of the various attractions in Mauritius.
Mauritius will surely get more than 1 Million tourists if the E-marketing is done well to promote our paradise island.
