SC 2012: Click Here for School-wise Results and % Pass in all Mauritius colleges
The results for the SC results 2012 are out since this afternoon, Monday 30th January 2012. The pass rate for the 2011 batch is 76,74 %. The Mauritius Examination Syndicate (MES) has noted a slight decrease in the success rate compare to the 2010 batch. There were 19,500 candidates who took part for the School Certificate (SC) last year.
Lucien Finette, the directer of the Mauritius Examinations Syndicate has explained that this decrease in pass rate could be because of the increase number of candidates who took parts for the 2011 SC examinations.
There are some colleges which have registered a 100 % pass rate this year, the colleges we know so far where all the candidates were successful for the SC exams are Sodnac SSS and Hindu Girls College.
The suspense will be over for candidates of the School Certificate ( SC ) and of the Higher School Certificate ( HSC ) by the 6th February. Lucien Finette, the director of the Mauritius Examination Syndicate ( MES ) has declared that SC results will be out on 30th January and HSC will be known on the 6th February 2012.
However Lucien Finette has said that these dates are not 100% confirmed. Concerning the HSC results, the director of the MES has said that the 6th February has been chosen because the 7th February is a public holiday ( Cavadee ).
Lucien Finette has also said that the correction has been properly done, he also announced that there will be something new for the SC results this year. The students will now get a “paper grade” that is for all the subjects, there will be a note as for HSC.
Last year, 78% of the students have been successful for the SC examinations ( 82.17% of girls and 73.27% of boys). For the HSC, 78.54% of the candidates were successful.
Only three credits will now be needed to be promoted to Lower VI
In 2012, student needed to have four credits in SC to be promoted in Lower VI, since last year a student can be promoted with only three credits. However the student will have to meet three requirements. The first requirement is the age limit, according to the law, a student can stay in college until he is 20 years old. Hence with this new measure, these students can continue and finish there studies. The second requirement is that the student must be successful in English. The student can now opt for new subjects such as sociology, Hinduism and Design even if they have not done these subjects in SC.
New Laureate Scheme for 2013
According to an officer of the Ministry of Education, the New Laureate Scheme will be active as from 2013. Hence the number of laureates will increase from 30 to 60 and will give priority to needy students.
