In 1812, orders have been given by Napoleon Bonoparte to bombard St Basil’s cathedral, but fortunately torrential rain ruin Napoleon plans and St Basil’s cathedral was saved.
St Basil’s Cathedral is a very popular tourist attraction in Russia, the opening hours to visit the onion shaped cathedral are at 11:00 to 17:00 daily but it is closed on Tuesdays.
